jungle fever

it is amazing how small little things can dictate your mood for the day. like say getting (or not getting) a good parking spot.
parking in front of our building is quite an adventure. it is a jungle out there if you come in at the start of the hour. people crossing, cars in and out…things go crazy for like 10 minutes. and then gone. silence. peace. tranquility.

although you basically have to be at the right spot when someone pulls out of his/her space, i learned an easier way of finding a box. the trick they say is to wait for students coming out of the building, and then ask if you could give them a ride to their spot. it works most of the time. plus there is always that random social contact, that small friendly gesture that may or may not lead to something.

yesterday was the last day of classes for spring semester here at tech. therefore it is reading day today (day before finals) and could only mean one thing. semi-empty parking spaces. although i am still trying to recall the events that transpired in the last eight hours, i came in early today in the lab and was cheered up finding a parking spot, front row baby! it felt like getting vip seats in a concert or a game. it was overwhelming I almost forgot i’m hungover.

now i feel fired up and ready to work. ready to enter a different kind of jungle.
